HOW TO ENTER
HISTORY
In 1992, during the Annual convention in Detroit, the NABJ Visual Task Force (VTF) held its first photo competition. Milbert O. Brown took first place honors with a report entitled Red Jazz parlor. This competition formerly known as the “Shoot Out” was renamed in 2001 to The Moneta J. Sleet Jr. Photo Competition to reflect the entrepreneurial spirit and advances to the field of photojournalism sojourned by Moneta J. Sleet Jr, the first African-American photographer to win the Pulitzer prize for photography.
This year, amateurs and professionals alike will compete during a 24-hour, shoot-out competition at the annual NABJ Convention in Detroit! Even if you don’t have a professional camera, we encourage you to shoot out with us!
